Hey people,

I’m guessing y’all had a great start to this wonderful week. I see great things happening people…

International Women’s Day

Hey folks,

Most of us know women around the globe are being celebrated today…. And in line with our mission and interest, we use this medium to celebrate women everywhere… You are great and highly blessed…. Here’s a poem from the great Maya Angelou

image

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think in telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down to their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman.
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s the arch in my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout it jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
The palm of my hand,
The need of my care, ’cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Annual Christmas Cheer 2014

Hello people,

It’s a bright morning at this part of the World, we wish you brightness wherever you are reading this post.

It’s about time we fed your eyes with pictures from the recently concluded Annual Christmas Cheer that took place on the 24th of December 2014. It was a refreshing and invigorating event as over 30 women went home with basket filled with goodies for their families to celebrate the Christmas with.

We believe that Christmas is a season of joy and no one should be left out of the happy celebration of the Birth of Christ, it is because of this belief that we try to affect and influence happiness in the lives of those who cannot afford the luxury of celebrating the season.IMG_20141224_144424 IMG_20141224_144424

One of our Trustees, Pastor (Mrs) Suoton Elihai anchored the event. She informed the attendants of the reason for the Season and shared with them the love of Christ for all as she also led them in prayer. At the end of the pep talk, each woman was called to carry her own goodie basket containing a small bag of rice, tubers of yam, carton of noodles, gallon of oil, pasta, pack of toilet roll, Ankara (the native material for sewing clothes), biscuits and fruit drinks for her children.IMG_20141224_145954

We are extremely grateful and thankful to Dangote, Dufil Prima Foods, The Market Research Consultancy and every Individual who supported the event through financial means.

Annual Back to School Campaign 2014

This year’s Annual Back to School Campaign took place in the month of November, 2014. Approaching the event with a new twist, we decided to visit the schools whose students were to be presented with school kits. IMG_20141120_143648

Prior to the selected days of the Campaign, the Project Coordinator of the Foundation screened several schools to pick out children who were eligible for the school kits in terms of those who needed them, those who didn’t have alternatives as there were some of them that put their books in paper bags to go to school and some others who didn’t even have books.

The day each school was visited, the Founder of GHAF, Mrs EnoAbasi Unogu, addressed the children, telling them the purpose of the Foundation, offering encouragement, words of support and advise to them. She also announced the Foundation’s intention on sponsoring the kid who performed best academically  to the level of achieving a higher education.IMG_20141121_123354

The schools visited were :

Community Senior Grammar School, Surulere, Lagos.

Estate Baptist Primary School, Surulere, Lagos.

Community Junior Grammar School, Surulere, Lagos.

The content of the school kit were note books, writing materials, school bag and rain coats. We are grateful to the Sponsors of the Campaign- MTN, Etisalat, The Market Research Consultancy and other Individuals who donated in funds and kind to the success of the event. May the good Lord bless and reward you…
