Born four weeks premature weighing no more than 1.219kg, she has zero body fat and has never weighed more than 64 pounds(29kg) in her entire lifetime. She is not anorexic but her condition makes it unable for her to gain weight, she is required to eat many small meals and snack throughout the day to keep up with her daily energy requirement for sustenance. She is blind in her right eye and has limited vision in the other eye. This condition which has similar symptoms to the progeria syndrome is not terminal as there is still ongoing research; her healthy bones, organs and teeth were spared.

At some point, a video went viral about her being stamped as “the world’s ugliest woman”. This inspired her and she fought against these people and has since then become a public motivational speaker and an author, she is also known for her anti-bullying activism. In her own words, she said, “God blessed me with the greatest blessing of my life which is my syndrome”. She has since taken it upon herself to speak at high schools to students against bullying. She has published two books; an autobiography and another, Be Beautiful, Be You, a book which advocates informing people that appearance doesn’t matter and that one should love oneself for who one is.

I have read and followed her life through several of her social media channels as well as her website, http://aboutlizzie.com.

IMG_20140519_152115I have gotten motivations from her lifestyle and beliefs that anyone can excel if one believes in oneself and doesn’t allow someone else to put one down.

She is inspirational. She is an amazing person and has used her condition to impact the world. She is beautiful and uses her story to eradicate the bullying.

I encourage everyone to be as beautiful as Lizzie is inside out. She redefines what it is to be a role model.
